What is the mechanism for the transfer of short term memory to long term memory? What types of events might disrupt this process? How can you improve the transfer so that additional material may be retained for a longer period of time?  

Week 3 DQ 2

What is the relationship, if any, between the acquisition of language (in the broadest sense) and the capacity for thought? Can we think without the use of linguistic symbols?  What would be the mechanism for thinking if we did not use language?  

Week 3 DQ 3

What are some of the drives and desires that would be responsible for what we call motivation? How would these drives manifest themselves in our behavior? Can we be motivated by future events?  

Week 3 DQ 4

What types of events and/or behaviors impact our emotions? Are emotions and feelings the same thing? Are specific emotions triggered by specific stimuli? Can we direct and plan for the types of emotions we wish to experience?  Explain your answer
