DISCUSSION 2
Order Description
There are generally two approaches to survey research open ended and forced response questions. The forced response question is always the best for quantitative research because of the ease in which the responses can be coded for statistical analysis. One key is that the responses must be mutually exclusive and exhaustive. In that regard the popular 5 point Likert format (strongly agree, agree, no opinion, disagree, strongly disagree) must have a no opinion category. In addition there may be a problem with interpretation for all responses in a questionnaire formatted survey instrument. That is why they should be pretested to clarify any wording issues that may be confusing. Attempting to reach a population with a variety of sensory skills is really problematic and will require a high degree of attention.
Your response to this question should address those strengths and weaknesses of each method of survey research. Also, include your topic as examples.
Identify the strengths and weaknesses of survey research. Provide explanatory examples using your topic. How can you use the survey results to test your hypothesis?
