A counselor working at an all-male federal prison distributed Styrofoam cups to each of member of a group of inmates. During the group session, she instructed them to write on the cups what it was that they felt “leaked” some of their self worth. For every leak, each man poked a hole in his cup. The counselor encouraged the men to talk about ways that their self worth could be mended, and she handed out tape for mending the holes. She did not collect any of the cups after the group session ended that day. When it was time for group the next week, the counselor was surprised to see the men holding their half-mended cups, waiting for group to begin so they could talk about the topic some more. This is an example of a very effective creative technique.
In this Discussion, you will apply and evaluate one of the described creative techniques involving movement, writing, drawing, analogies, or fantasies. Link the use of the chosen creative intervention to your theory of choice. Conduct a mock counseling session in which you introduce the creative technique. After the session, ask your mock client for feedback on the use of the creative technique.
The bottom is what Is needed
Post by Day 4 a brief description of the creative technique you used or developed. Describe how the use of this creative technique is relevant to the stated goals or issues of the mock client. Explain how the technique is aligned with the counseling theory. Describe your observation of the effect that this technique elicited during the mock session as well as the feedback received from the mock client.
