Understanding Priority Health Issues Within the Community Order Description Understanding Priority Health Issues Within the Community Identifying priority health issues involves striking a delicate balance between perceptions the community itself has of its needs and the needs that are identified through the community health assessment. When identifying assets, community members are able to gain control of their environment, their behaviors, and their perceptions that they can use to change their lifestyles. This brings about a sense of dedication to long-lasting health changes that the community will effectively maintain. For this Discussion, refer to the media Identifying Assets from this week’s resources. Then review the case study “Opening the Doors to Change” from this week’s resources, in which the author identifies policy priorities and the areas in need of attention (starting on page 4). Finally, consider the following scenario: You have received funding from an agency to implement improvement strategies for three areas in need of attention in the case study. Post by Day 3 an explanation of which three areas in need of attention you would choose and why. Remember to begin interacting with your colleagues in the Discussion no later than Day 5 and continue engaging through Day 7 by supporting or critiquing the rationale of your colleague’s selections. Support your work with specific citations from this week’s Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources as appropriate. Refer to the Essential Guide to APA Style for Walden Students to ensure that your in-text citations and reference list are correct. Return to this Discussion in a few days to read the responses to your initial posting. Note what you have learned and/or any insights you have gained as a result of the comments your colleagues made. – GradSchoolPapers.com

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read Chapters 5 and 6 in the textbook and the required articles for this week. Take the role of a psychological examiner administering a standardized test of intelligence to Johnny, an 8-year-old boy, as a part of a research project. Carefully review the ABS300: Week Two Assessment Scenario. (Links to an external site.) In your initial post, begin by describing your current understanding of the concept of intelligence. Based on your description of intelligence, evaluate Johnny’s response in comparison to the responses identified as correct in the standardization manual. Decide whether or not to score Johnny’s answer as correct or incorrect. Explain your rationale. Specify how scoring Johnny’s responses exactly by the manual might impact his true score on the intelligence measure. Analyze the “four seasons of the year” test item in terms of each of the following psychological measurement concepts: reliability, predictive validity, content validity, and cultural fairness. Evaluate the standards in the APA’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct that address testing bias and the strategies for multicultural assessments discussed in the article by Horin, Hernandez & Donoso (2012) in light of the current scenario. Conclude your post by explaining how you would interpret the assessment results to Johnny and his parents.
