I choose communication and patient center care because I believed those two topics are the core of nursing core competencies. As the change in nursing evolves communication will continue to be the tools that spearhead every decision and change. As a nurse on the floor we know that communication started long before the arrival of the patients. Communication is what gives us the information we need to implement the plan of care that the patient will need.

Patient center care focuses on the patient and the individual’s need. The goal of the patient centered care is to empower patients to become active participants in their care. (American Society of Radiologic Technologists 2009) patient. As a nurses our goal is help patient achieving their optimum health, how do we do that, by making the patient play a role in their recovery one way of a accomplishing that is to communicate at their individual level about thre process of their care. Patients who understand about their care is more likely to be involve and to achieved their ultimate goal. This in my opinion makes communication and patient care is the most important and will continues to be the most important in the future.
