Deontology as an Ethical Perspective (Solved)

Deontology is an ethical approach organized around ideas of right and wrong. Deontology assumes that human beings have moral obligations that make absolute claims on us — absolute meaning that those obligations must be honored under all circumstances, no matter how difficult. In contrast to utilitarianism, which focuses on the consequences of one’s actions, the deontology assesses the rightness or wrongness of an action based on the intentionality of the agent. Utilitarianism’s focus on consequences means it can be used to determine which course of action will bring about the greatest good for the greatest number. The moral absolutism of deontology does not permit this sort of calculation — but it does make it possible to say (as utilitarianism does not) that some kinds of actions are always wrong, regardless of the consequences
