Describe the prevailing arguments of what constitutes a “just war,” and assess the justice of the Vietnam War in that context.

1. The Vietnam War was a counterinsurgency that involved us in guerilla warfare that was similar, in some ways, to what we face in Afghanistan today. But the way the Vietnam War was conducted was considered to be immoral and unjust by many.

  • Describe the prevailing arguments of what constitutes a “just war,” and assess the justice of the Vietnam War in that context.
  • Speculate on how the world would be different today if the U.S. had not become involved in Vietnam.

2. Respond to the post below 50 to 75 words

The Vietnam war was unjustified by lots of Americans because we had no personal interest in the conflict.  North Vietnam wanted to spread communism into South Vietnam.  At first French was supporting the South Vietnam to resist from the spread of communism.  Unfortunately the French wanted additional help and Americans troops were on the ground fighting guerrillas.  There were large amount of causalities in both side.  If this war happened today USA will have UN involved in peace resolution.  US and France acted alone to defend the South Vietnam and from passing communism around.  Today we might even accept the ideology of communism to be a type of political structure used to lead a country.
