Discussion1: PTSD Interventions

With soldiers returning home from wars and with seemingly neverending violence and natural disasters, growing numbers of people are suffering longlasting mental health crises. Based on the need for effective interventions that address the cluster of symptoms that has come to be labeled posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) added a clinical diagnosis for PTSD. Because treatment is crucial for this disorder, understanding effective interventions for PTSD is imperative for clinical social workers.

· Post a description of the PTSD-related behaviors evident in the Levy family interactions. 

· Recommend an evidence-based intervention that might help Jake and Sheri and their sons. 

· Describe how the intervention is implemented and its underlying theory. Explain how this intervention might help the Levy family and ameliorate the presenting problems. 

· Finally, describe why you chose this intervention. Use this week’s resources or the literature to support your conclusions.
