“Introduction”

The article “Bionic eyes, arms, and spines are no longer science fiction” by Carl Smith is a great article with real life experiences of individuals who have had their instabilities solved through technology. However, I find the article ‘will technology allow us to transcend the human condition?” the most interesting because it demonstrates where technology is taking us in the future. One of the most fascinating things here is how organizations are dedicated to use improved technology to boost the intellectual, physical, and psychological capabilities of humans. It is surprising what technological advancements can do for humans. For instance, providing them with the ability to realize a hundred years of life.

Another thing that caught my eye in this article is how new technology continue pushing life limits. For instance, CRISPR makes it possible for scientists to transform certain genes within an organism making heritable transformations. Again, other people are now taking advantage of body augmentation technology using RFID chips implanted within their bodies. It is funny how first technology is growing something indicated by the lack of certain regulation leaving room for heated debate over the application of such technologies.

According to the author, using advanced technology for human augmentation is not without limitations. One problem is that only the wealthy can afford it. Secondly, people using technology to manipulate the world go to an extend of manipulating themselves. Though trans humanism is trying to solve the issue of inferior humans, it is doing it in the way according to religious and philosophical opponents. They refer to the movement as an anti-human movement.

Conclusion

It is surprising where technology it taking us. It is fascinating that people will be able to live more than a hundred years. On the other hand, it is unclear whether this is a good thing or not. It is a controversial matter.
