Find a sonnet by Shakespeare and compare it to another poem of the time… Perhaps Sonnet 292 by Petrarch and Shakespeare’s 130.
The point is to find a really good thesis, outside of analysing word for word the poem but rather doing a comparison in terms of motif and a major thesis.
That said, it would be based on finding a theme/motif compare and contrast their similarities and differences using extensive analysis and perhaps how they add to eachother. It would be good to use the literary devices and style etc, to compare each other and how that adds to the main thesis of the paper.
Sources and research would be a great way to go about this, in terms of either agreeing with someone’s argument or disagreeing and proving it.
