Hello Albert,
I agree with your post. If you are employed with the State of Georgia, when applying for health insurance coverage through employment you have to sign a waiver stating that you are anyone in your family that is covered are non-smokers. If you or a spouse smokes, your coverage will be higher than a non-smoker. Most providers mandate you to have a annual physical to stay covered. My uncle died years ago from lung cancer, he retired from Ford Motors. He hadn’t smoked in over 20 years before he died.
I also do not believe that the full implementation of ACA in 2014 will create a market failure. First they will need to make corrections. Their is nothing affordable about this Act. It is income based which you could pay almost $200 for just trying to cover yourself. Some providers opt out of the Act. This year Aetna opt out. They are not on the ACA market plan. If congress, senate and the president can all come together and realize it is not about Republican nor Democrat but what is best for the people.
