You are a counterterrorism specialist with the Department of Justice.  You have been asked to summarize the potential responses to terrorism for a Congressional Briefing.

•Research the theories and policies of counterterrorism and prevention methods to combat organized crime.

•Create a written document that explains the options available in counterterrorism work, at minimum:

◦negotiation

◦preemption

◦retaliation

•Use appropriate examples to discuss which options should be used and when.

Instructor Comments: Class, one place students lose points on this assignment is that they do not give enough detail in their explanations and also do not provide examples.  So, make sure you give good strong examples here. 

 I do not need a cover page.  I need the 4-6 paragraphs that summarize the potential responses to terrorism for a Congressional Briefing.  Must have at least 2 reliable references that include the websites that are used.  Must be APA format.  (Each paragraph has to have at least 4-6 sentences)

Counterterrorism –part 2 -Deliverable Length: 2-3 pages

You have just received intelligence that an international terrorist group has selected a major target in a major U.S. city. The terrorists are known for their hatred of capitalism and Western culture, and their intent is to wage a violent campaign against the United States beginning with this attack. Based on the intelligence, the following factors are known:

•The target is a high profile location.

•The exact date and time is not known, but it is anticipated within 30 days.

•The attack would produce mass casualties.

1. Research the theories and policies of counterterrorism and prevention methods to combat organized crime.

2. Use a risk assessment to determine likely targets.

3. Propose a counterterrorist strategy to your boss, using your research to support your choices

 Instructor Comments: Class, you are to select a SINGLE target for this assignment.  Conduct a risk assessment on that target and then explain which of the 3 methods discussed in the DB that you would use against this proposed attack and why.

 I need a Cover page and an Abstract page.                    

Must have at least 2 reliable references with website used.  In addition, need in-text cites.

Must be in APA format
