Purpose: To expose students to the uses of information and communication technologies (ICT) by real people working in

real organizations. To improve course offerings by universities to better prepare current and future workers.

Skills to be Developed: Interviewing, asking questions, taking notes, oral and written communication skills, and

observation of people and organizations in action.

Directions: Each student is required to interview at least THREE interviewees using the following 12 questions and any

other ICT related questions of the interviewer’s choice. Interviews can be conducted face-to-face or through telephone, fax,

e-mail, or other channels. Answers to the questions must be summarized in a paper that each student will write for

MISY3310 and the findings must be presented to the class. The research paper will need to be submitted as an assignment

item through Blackboard and turned in as a printed, single-spaced, double-sided paper on the due date.

6. Customer Relations Management (CRM) is an important component of marketing. Describe the role of computers on how

your company captures, stores, retrieves and uses data to manage relationships with customers.

7. The laws of system entropy, natural disasters, acts of terror and computer crime are but some of the things that can destroy

an organization’s information flow and storage. Explain how your company is protecting itself against these mishaps.

8. Describe your thoughts about the ethics of your company’s policies, practices and procedures related to collection, storage,

sharing, and use of data about customers and employees.

9. What laws, if any, do you think should be made to better protect customers and employees from abuses of personal data

stored in organizations? Please explain your thoughts.

10. How does your company use information and communication technologies (ICT) to compete against other companies?
