MUST WRITE 5+ SENTENCES FOR EACH CLASSMATE STAY ON TOPIC, BE POSITIVE, AND DO NOT COMMENT ON GRAMMAR ERRORS!!
Hi Professor and Class:
The main points that the authors are trying to make for each are as follows Truman Doctrine- Truman asks for $400 million to aid Turkey and Greece to fight against communist rebels, ends up spending over $600,000 million. The major step in the evolution of foreign policy. Marshall Plan- George C Marshall, Sec of State. Proposes an economic-aid plan for broken Europe in order to contain communism and to build free states again. About $13 billion spent, enabled countries to rebuild and grow. Marshall plan gave a positive view of containment and promoted capitalism while the Truman Doctrine. Was an American foreign policy to stop Soviet imperialism during the Cold War. It provided assistance to those under Soviet rule.President Truman referred to the Truman Doctrine and Marshall Plan as “two halves of the same walnut.” President Truman announced in the Truman Doctrine that the US should embrace the Cold War as the foundation of American foreign policy and that the Cold War is the beginning of the worldwide struggle over freedom. One of the main focuses of this doctrine was the policy of “containment,” meaning containing communism from expanding. America had the duty to expand and defend freedom wherever there was the threat of communism. The Marshall Plan was built on the policy of containment from the Truman Doctrine and sought to enforce the doctrine. The Marshall Plan was all about providing aid to allies and aid Europe in rebuilding.
Thanks,

One main point that Truman was trying to make was that Greece and Turkey both needed assistance and he wanted the United States to assist them. Another point he was trying to make was that in addition to monetary assistance, he was authorizing the detail of American civilian and military personnel to both countries as well. He felt that the United Nations should help them, but that it would take too long. The need was urgent, and the United States was the only country that could help them with everything they needed. Lastly, he felt that if the United States did not help Turkey and Greece, that World War II would have been in vein.
Marshall stated that the policy was not directed against any doctrine or country, but against hunger, desperation, poverty and chaos. The policy’s purpose was to revive the working economy. He explained that without the United States assisting European countries, there would be no political stability nor assured peace.
Both policies asked the United States to assist the other countries. We could possibly fight terrorism by partnering with other countries just as we did after World War II. Not only did we help them with money, but we sent military and civilians to them to assist.
A recent conflict that can be linked back to the principles is the middle east. We invaded their country to get rid of the Taliban government yet we’re still there. We still have troops in Afghanistan trying to help rebuild and help support their government.
