Unlike an argument essay, this is an argumentative research paper which requires looking at two sides (not just one) of an argument and providing support for all sides with scholarly, peer-reviewed sources. You will need at least six (6) peer-reviewed sources and no more than one (1) non-peer reviewed internet source.

Do that and provide excellent use of APA format in the paper and you have an A.

Here is a basic outline for an argumentative research paper for this course:

Abstract Page

I. Introduction – Thesis statement (Initial argument)

II. Support for the thesis or initial argument (Parts A, B, C,etc.) using peer-reviewed scholarly sources.

III. Counterargument and support for the counterargument using peer-reviewed scholarly sources.

IV. Refutation (e.g. Despite the fact that the counterargument is excellent and is supported well, here is why the initial thesis (argument) still holds strong.)

V. Conclusion

VI. References (e.g. the reference page(s))

VII. Appendix (any maps, charts, etc.)
