New technology is giving us incredible insight into the interaction of nature and the environment. Consider that we no longer believe that we should consider the idea of nature vs nurture. The more accurate perspective is epigenetic and focuses on how nurture influences our natural, or genetic, predispositions. Please watch a minimum of 2 movie segments from the Human Genome Series and 2 movie segments from the Human Development series at

Human Genome Sequence, 2 segments or about 20 minutes from Cracking the Code of Life:

Human Development, 2 segments or about 20 minutes from :

Choose to view segments by scrolling along the movie to determine which parts might be of most interest to you. Depending on your browser, you may have to search on PBS directly or you may not see formal segments. DON’T freak out 🙂 Just try to focus on learning and choosing the best parts of the movie. The assignment asks you to consider your knowledge of nature via nurture. Your posts should demonstrate at least 2 specific things you have learned or find interesting from the movies and explain how these terms and observation relate to the interaction of nature and nurture. I will be specifically looking for at least 2 vocabulary terms and 2 specific facts from each movie series. The segment on Tay Sachs from the Human Genome Series and the SRY gene segment from human development have been very popular so please consider including those segments in your choices.
