Evaluate your dietary intake.

First, go to Choose My Plate and select “Super Tracker.” Then select “Create my Profile” and enter the required information (height, weight, etc.). Allow the software to compute your needs for a day. Save that information. You will use it later to see how well you did against your dietary recommendations.

Next, record everything you eat in one day and the amounts in either cups or ounces. Measurements are taken after cooking, if it needs to be cooked.

Report all foods you ate that day in each food category, including amounts. Note: It is going to be important that you do not look at the food guide while you do this exercise. Just document what you eat normally.

Finally, go back to the results from. Compare the results to what you ate. Evaluate the types of foods you ate against what was recommended. Discuss areas where you might make improvements. Use the website to identify different foods you can eat to meet your intake goals.
