REQUIREMENTS FOR INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENTS
Each student will be assigned one case study to be discussed in a paper of at least 1,800
words that will be submitted to the instructor on the day the topic is discussed. The
following will be utilized for the formal case analysis:
Guidelines for Case Analysis:
1. What are the facts in the case?
2. What are the ethical issues (ideals, obligations, consequences) that need to be
addressed on:
A) An individual level?
B) An organizational level?
C) A societal level?
3. Based upon what you perceive to be the most significant ethical dilemma: List the
alternatives for the character(s) in the case.
4. Evaluate each alternative describing each and their implications.
5. Evaluate how each significant group (company, society, and special interest groups)
might perceive each alternative.
6. Determine if there are any constraints that make any of the alternatives unfeasible.
7. Choose the best alternative in your opinion and justify your decision; i.e., which
moral philosopher would support your decision?
8. Determine how the organization and society might perceive this decision and why.
9. Develop strategies to overcome any possible negative feedback by any group.
