POST 1: The use of embryonic stem cell research has been led by many debates of whether its successful option for treatment is ethical or because it involves destruction of blastocysts which to many deem unacceptable and immoral. The use of embryonic stem cells demonstrates an effective method for treatment. Stem cells derive from human embryos. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells of a multicellular organism that is capable of producing abundant same type cells (Pros and Cons of Stem Cell Research). Stem cells are potentially used for therapy to help develop and repair extensive tissue damage from hereditary disorders. The criticism behind this technique is debated that it is unethically moral to use human cells to compose and manipulate genetic material.

These innovations raise the controversial issue of “new eugenics.” Eugenics is the selection of desired heritable characteristics in order to improve future generations (Briannica.com). This scientific study promoted the human race to receive more attention about bettering the breeding system to improving babies and “fit families” of the future. Many sought this to be an ethical issue because of the unwarranted interference with nature and ‘abuse’ of the system to manipulate the human race.

Though stem cells do come from the human race, I find it to be not only useful for future therapy treatments, but a scientific method justifiable, worth further research and continued trend for medical progress. If it doesn’t harm anyone from retrieving these stem cells, why argue its production of bettering treatments and innovating new possibilities for recovery. Many fear that this study may expand to the innovation of cloning because of the gene directed activity that would emerge a new group of ‘perfected’ human beings.
