List four characteristics of nursing as a profession in a one-minute paper Compare and contrast the three characteristics of nursing to another profession (role) in a one-minute paper Competency: BSN Essential VIII – Professionalism and Professional Values – It is an imperative that the nurse understand professionalism and the inherent values fundamental to the discipline of nursing Define three terms related to characteristics of the nursing profession on a class quiz Competency: BSN Essential VIII – Professionalism and Professional Values – It is an imperative that the nurse understand professionalism and the inherent values fundamental to the discipline of nursing Instructional Strategies and Activities Lecture: Lecture related to requirements/expectations, terms related to the nursing profession, and characteristics of what comprises a professional nurse Rationale: General information provided in a lecture type of format with handouts will allow the student to hear expectations and visually follow along with content provided. Assessment Plan At the beginning of Lesson 3, the student will complete a one-minute paper following these guidelines: Using as many of the terms and descriptive characteristics from Lesson 1 and 2, complete a one-minute paper (columns) differentiating between what comprises a nurse’s characteristics (expected) to that of a plumber. The topic I would like to choose is diabetes.
